Chrome Extension Guide

Capture any job posting into ApplyIQ in one click — no copy-paste.

What it does

Visit a job posting on any supported site, click the ApplyIQ toolbar icon, and the extension auto-fills:

Edit anything before saving. Click Save to ApplyIQ and the application form opens in a new tab pre-filled — one more click to commit.

1. Install the extension

Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store

The extension is in review. In the meantime, you can install it manually from source — see Manual install below.

Manual install (developer mode)

Use this path if the Chrome Web Store listing isn't live yet, or if you want the latest unreleased version.

  1. Download the extension folder from the GitHub repo (Code → Download ZIP, then unzip).
  2. Open chrome://extensions/ in Chrome.
  3. Toggle Developer mode on (top right).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the chrome-extension/ folder you just unzipped.
  5. The ApplyIQ icon will appear in your extensions list.

2. Pin the icon to your toolbar

Chrome hides new extensions behind the puzzle-piece icon by default. Pin ApplyIQ so it's one click away:

  1. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the top right of Chrome.
  2. Find ApplyIQ — Capture Job Applications in the dropdown.
  3. Click the pin icon next to it.

You'll now see the ApplyIQ icon directly in your toolbar.

3. Capture your first job

  1. Open any job posting on a supported site (see list below).
  2. Click the ApplyIQ icon in your toolbar.
  3. The popup opens with the company, role, location, URL, and job description auto-filled. Edit any field if needed.
  4. Click Save to ApplyIQ.
  5. A new tab opens to your ApplyIQ board with the application form pre-filled. Click Save to commit it.

That's it. The application now lives in your tracker, complete with the full job description for AI tailoring.

Supported job boards

The extension has dedicated extractors for these sites:

On any other site, the extension falls back to reading the page title and main content. Fields may need manual cleanup, but the URL and JD will still be captured.

Troubleshooting

The popup says “Couldn't auto-read fields”

Some pages — especially on company career sites with custom-built job views — don't expose the data in a place the extractor recognizes. The popup will show you what it did see (page title, og:title, h1) under a debug panel. Just fill in the fields manually and click Save; the URL and any partial data are preserved.

The icon does nothing on a Chrome system page

Pages like chrome://extensions, chrome://settings, and the new-tab page can't be read by extensions for security reasons. This is a Chrome restriction, not a bug.

The application didn't appear in my tracker

The extension opens a new tab to ApplyIQ with the form pre-filled — you still need to click Save in that form to commit. If you closed the tab without saving, nothing was created.

I'm not logged into ApplyIQ when I click Save

You'll be redirected to log in first. Once logged in, paste the import URL again or trigger Save from the extension again — your existing browser session creates the application.

Privacy

The extension only reads page data when youclick the toolbar icon. Nothing is read in the background, there's no analytics, and no telemetry. Captured data is sent to ApplyIQ only when you click Save — and only to your own account, since it uses your existing browser session.

Questions or issues?

Email support@chason.app with a screenshot of what you see and the URL of the job posting that didn't work. The debug panel in the popup tells me exactly what the extractor saw, which is usually enough to fix it.
